98 Years Since Murder of Fr Griffin
It’s the first Sunday of Advent, and the annual Mass in memory of Fr Michael Griffin will be celebrated tomorrow at 12pm.
The curate for this parish (the boundaries were a lot wider then) was lured out on a bogus sick-call and then murdered by Crown forces in November 1920.
His remains were found in a field in Bearna - in Clochscoilte, where the monument now stands. A wreath will be laid there after Mass tomorrow.
