A Truskey West resident has been on to us about a theft at their home during the week, while they were out at work. 

 “Will you let people know that there was a white van checking out houses in Barna over the past week-10 days.

“I spotted them during the week and items were stolen out of our garage while we were at work on Thursday or Friday. We only discovered the theft this morning. It has been reported to Salthill Gardaí.

“I’m afraid they’ll return.”

IF YOU SEE THE DRIVERS OF ANY VEHICLES ACTING SUSPICIOUSLY, TAKE A NOTE OF THEIR REG AND A PHOTO, IF POSSIBLE.

• If you are concerned, CCTV can be an excellent deterrent, and prosecution tool. There are reasonably-priced options available to give piece of mind. 
• Set up a WhatsApp text-alert group with your neighbours
•  At night time, sensor lights and a dog are great to announce an unwelcome visitor. Grants are available for vulnerable people.
• Electronic gates are another deterrent. While they may not be the be-all-and-end-all, they prevent a thief from making off with large items, or reduce their chances of going un-seen.
