The latest resident of our local bird sanctuary is this proud fella, nicknamed Cube, for reasons that will become obvious!

In a suspected case of self-loathing or rivalry, the herring gull was found attacking himself in the temporary mirror building at the Claddagh Basin.

After several attempts to move him away - including taking him upriver - he kept returning and finally had to be taken to the sanctuary for his own safety until the structure is removed!

(The bird sanctuary is behind Texaco in Lough Rusheen Park, and is manned by a dedicated group of volunteers.)
