We have five beautiful beaches in the Bearna-Na Forbacha area. Four of them are under the care of Galway County Council, while the fifth (Silverstrand) is in the City Council area. Furbo and Silverstrand are designated bathing areas, so are subject to regular water testing, as per Irish and EU regulations. We are currently asking residents and users of the other three beaches to contact Galway County Council’s environment department to have them designated. This is in light of ongoing issues around water pollution off Bearna. Voice your concern: environment@galwaycoco.ie.
