Please Don't Feed Grass Cuttings to Donkeys!

The owner of these much-loved donkeys in the Barna Road has appealed to the public not to feed them grass cuttings.

The filly foal is not even a week old. Feeding grass cuttings to donkeys can cause colic or even death.

“Some people are bringing grass cuttings down to the donkeys,” he says.
”Grass cuttings are not good for them as they could get colic and die. Can you ask people to make compost of their grass cuttings and to please refrain from throwing them to the donkeys. Thank you.”

The owner says he will have to find an alternative location if this continues.

The same applies to any animal - a horse died in Killarney last year after grass cuttings containing fertiliser were dumped into its field.
