Paddle Boarders Missing off furbo beach

7am: Sad news this morning - two girls from Knocknacarra were using body boards off Furbo Beach yesterday when they disappeared.

Residents comb the coastline, while the RNLI searches Galway Bay for the missing girls

12 pm: another search organised from Spiddal at 2pm, meeting at Micheál Breathnach GAA club. We have asked volunteers to state (in our latest post) where they have searched, to avoid duplication.

Update 8.51am: coordinated search starting from Spiddal Beach at 9.30am. No planned searches from Bearna/Furbo but there are individuals walking the shore and privately owned boats checking the coastline.

Sad news this morning - two girls from Knocknacarra were using body boards off Furbo Beach yesterday when they disappeared.

The RNLI and search and rescue helicopter were called, and combed the water and coastline last night, but to no avail.

We are all being asked to search the coastline near our homes. There is no official search group as yet, but people are looking for them on both sides of the bay.
