Five Seconds of Fame Denied To Paul

Melbourne was due to host the 2006 Commonwealth Games, and produced a video well in anticipation of that. The organisers put out a call for ordinary people living in the city who hail from Commonwealth countries to come forward to feature in the production.

They named Ireland as one of the countries, so a young Bearna man - Paul Concannon - came forward and filmed his part for it. He is featured in this video, but not in the final cut - because, of course, Ireland is not in the Commonwealth!!! Oops!

So, Paul lost out on his 5 seconds of fame, but at least this version still remains - he's wearing a green Ireland rugby jersey (“We are all united.”)
