PP Asks For Prayers Ahead of Latest Restrictions
This morning, Fr Michael Brennan celebrated his last public Mass for the foreseeable future, ahead of Level 3 restrictions coming into effect tonight.
During his homily in Realt na Mara Church, Na Forbacha, the parish priest asked the worshipping community to stay connected, despite not being able to meet up in person.
"There is a certain sadness about our Mass today as we head into a sense of lockdown for the next number of weeks – hopefully it mightn’t be extended beyond that," he said.
"We will miss being able to meet and say hello to each another, but we must try and focus on what’s important at the moment, and that’s to journey safely and healthily. And we have a responsibility to pray for people into the future – children, young adults, families struggling through the winter months, we pray earnestly for them that they will be safe and careful.
"We know that it’s not going to be easy, but until we come to the end of it is important to stay in contact, bear with us via the internet and radio (106.6FM).
"It is also important to acknowledge the amazing work that has gone on behind the scenes to keep the church open during the summer months – fantastic teams from both Bearna and Furbo who looked after cleaning, registration, stewarding, and recording the Mass on Facebook. Let us continue to journey on and not feel like passive observers, we very much have a part to play.”
